Steve Ryman | Art of Hosting Steward
Steve is a global nomad, often a Sacred Outsider, traveling the world, witnessing life’s unfolding, asking questions, listening and sharing stories, offering himself and his gifts where he can contribute. But most of all, he is continually learning what it means to be fully human and how to be more present in all situations. Steve has worked for 35 years in American healthcare facilitating innovation, collaboration and change process, and developing high performing work teams. As a practitioner and steward of the Art of Hosting Conversations, he has a particular interest in frontier areas of the world and in helping to build capacity and supporting newer practitioners in their learning. That has led him to work for the last 6 years in China, India, Vietnam, Africa and Europe with individuals, organizations and communities, helping them find innovative solutions to their challenges.
Narayan Silva | Art of Hosting Practitioner
Narayan grew up in Brazil but sees himself as a true Knowmad, having experienced learning and working in 11 different countries. During his year in Sweden, he experienced his 1st Art of Hosting training, which had a huge impact in his work. Since then he has dedicated his life to this field, and for the last years he hosted processes for numerous organizations around the world, from small NGOs to corporations such as Nike and Mercedes-Benz. Narayan is also passionate about alternative education, and was nominated a UNESCO ESD (Education for Sustainable Development) Youth delegate in 2014. He is currently based in Hanoi, supporting the development of the Knowmads community.
Marjeta Novak | Art of Hosting Practitioner
Marjeta has been exploring what fosters aliveness in the workplace ever since her first student jobs in Yugoslav times. The shift from the soft-version Communism of ex-Yugoslavia to the turbulent capitalism of newly-born Slovenia sensitised her to the underlying values and concrete practices/systems with which people create places of belonging and contribution – organisations, communities, states, ecologies, families.
When she came across participatory approaches to creating change some 15 years ago, a whole new world opened for her. Using a variety of strength-based approaches, Marjeta now designs experiences in which participants reconnect with their shared humanity, to co-create life-serving solutions.
Promoting the power of participatory strategic dialogues, Marjeta serves as the president of the Slovenian Association of Facilitators, as well as the national steward of the Art of Hosting network – a global community that was birthed in her native Slovenia.
Mel Geltch | Art of Hosting Practitioner
Mel grew up on an Australian rice and sheep farm, and works as a collaborative
organiser, designer, host and harvester of work that matters. She has a professional
background in journalism, communications, learning, events, planning and change
across Australian government, media, NGOs and cultural organisations.
Since 2010, participatory leadership has been the cornerstone of the way she works and lives. Mel is strongly connected to the international Art of Hosting community, particularly
in Europe, and was a team member for the first Art of Hosting training in India in
2016. She is a co-founder of a new collaborative enterprise of people working in
public participation and the transformation of organisations and communities.
For Mel, this is a supportive platform for doing purposeful work that benefits people and
the planet, and for practicing a more human way of doing business.
Art of Hosting Vietnam 2017 is organized by a team brought together by their strong interest for participatory leadership methods and their hope to see more collaboration and creativity within vietnamese organizations.
