What is the Art of Hosting training?

Art of Hosting (AoH) Vietnam is a 3-day residential training that offers simple and powerful participatory practices, patterns and processes to harness the collective wisdom and self-organizing capacity of groups of any size. This is the 4th training in Vietnam. The past 3 trainings have been contributing to a growing community of practitioners in Vietnam and Asian-Pacific countries including China, Singapore, Thailand, Philippines, Japan, India and Australia. We have welcomed facilitators, trainers, managers, teachers, gardeners, entrepreneurs, coaches, therapists, writers, parents, artists, community organizers and anyone who deeply cares about the power of meaningful conversations for deeper connection and effective decision making.

How will we learn and practice together?
By engaging in hands-on practice-based learning processes, and in conversations with the hosting team and other participants. This training is an opportunity to step into participatory leadership. We will work on the edge of ‘praxis’ - the process by which a theory, lesson, or skill is enacted, embodied, or realized through direct application. Learners are trained not only in theories of why participatory methods are important, additionally they learn how to facilitate them. Participants will be invited to co-host participatory methods with the support of the Hosting Team. You will feel free to choose where you want to step in as a practicing host, a harvester, a participant or an observer.

Thursday 17th November
Afternoon: transporting from Hanoi to Bai Dinh, arriving and checking in.
The training begins

Fri. 18th & Sat. 19th November
Morning & afternoon: Full-day Training
Evening: time for coaching, sense-making, networking.

Sunday 20th November
3:00 PM - Training Ends
4:00 PM - Departure to Hanoi

You are expected to be present during the whole period of the training.

Location

The training will take place at Bai Dinh 3 star hotel (2h from Hanoi), which is placed on a beautiful, majestic and quiet mountain in Ninh Binh province. We handpicked this venue carefully to make sure the surroundings and the venue itself help participants to get the mind away from hectic daily work and city life, into a focused learning environment. Transportation between Hanoi and Bai Dinh will be provided at certain times before and after the training. Participants will share a double or triple room with one or two other participants of the same gender (or of your choice if you come as a group), unless requested otherwise.

How much does it cost?

When working on the budget of this training, we identified three cost categories:

Food and accommodation
Organizing cost (logistics, training location, transportation…)
Honoring work, efforts, commitment of the hosting, organizing team and the global community that makes this happen

Our pricing for Art of Hosting Vietnam is based around our guiding principle of "offer what you can and ask for what you need". Plus we want to practice inclusion, generosity and transparency. We try to keep the cost as affordable as possible, while still maintaining high quality of the training and logistics, as well as honoring the hard work of the team and support of the larger community. So rather than putting a single number that covers all the costs above, we have created a pricing system with three different options.

GENEROUS TICKET
710 USD ~ 16,6 mil VND

You pay for your food, accommodations, organizing cost, a generous gift to honor our work and efforts for the training. AND a special support to those who truly want to join the training but are not in a good financial place right now.

SUSTAINABLE TICKET
580 USD ~ 13.6 mil VND

You pay for your food, accommodations, organizing cost and give a gift to honor the work, energy, experience and wisdom of the hosting team and organizing team.

BASE TICKET
450 USD ~ 10.5 mil VND

You pay for your food, accommodations and organizing cost. All our work and effort to make this training happen will be our gift to you. If you feel that this is where you are at the moment, we invite you to courageously practice asking for what you need.

We would love to include people with all different financial abilities and still honor our team’s effort to make this training happen. We hope this system will assist your choice to participate, joining the community and practicing our spirit of caring and supporting each other.

If you don't see yourself in these 3 boxes, please let us know your offer in the registration form, and we will contact you. We also have a Seed Fund as a gift from the community to support those in need. The fund is limited and is distributed on "first come, first serve" principle.
We offer 10-15% discount for groups of participants coming from the same project / organization, depending on your group size and your need.

What is included in the ticket?

In all cases, the price includes the following:
- Transport from Hanoi to the venue & back (2h, with our own shuttle bus) at a fixed hour.
- Accommodation & food for the length of the training (3 nights, 3 lunches, 3 dinners, 3 buffet breakfast).
- Materials, templates for the training, workbook in PDF form.
- Training fee (3,5 days)
